At IGM Financial, we’re shaping the future of financial well-being. As technology becomes increasingly central to how we operate and serve clients, we are seeking a Vice-President, Technology Risk to lead our strategic oversight and governance of technology risk across the enterprise. This is a pivotal role at the intersection of innovation, cybersecurity and AI — positioned to drive impact in a rapidly evolving digital and regulatory landscape.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, this role leads the second line of defence function for all technology-related risk categories—including cyber, AI, data governance and emerging tech. The VP will play a critical role in shaping and embedding a forward-looking risk culture that enables innovation while protecting our business, people, and clients.
You will oversee risk frameworks and strategies across IGM Financial’s business units, supporting our transformation and technology modernization efforts. This includes working closely with senior business and technology leaders, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk appetite, and representing IGM in external regulatory and industry forums.
What You’ll Do
- Design and lead an enterprise-wide technology risk strategy, ensuring alignment to global best practices and regulatory expectations.
- Drive implementation of a consistent, scalable, and adaptive technology risk management framework across all IGM business units and subsidiaries
- Oversee and continuously evolve policies and methodologies related to technology risk, cybersecurity, AI, third-party technology risk, and data governance.
- Act as a strategic advisor and effective challenge to the first line in matters of technology risk, partnering closely with the CIO, and data and transformation teams.
- Enable proactive identification and mitigation of emerging risks through scenario planning, threat intelligence, and analytics-driven insights.
- Provide transparent and actionable reporting to senior leadership, risk committees, and the Board.
- Cultivate a risk-aware culture, promoting education, collaboration, and engagement across the three lines of defence.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team of risk professionals committed to continuous learning and future-ready practices.
- Act as a visible and credible representative of IGM in regulatory, audit, and industry contexts related to technology risk and resilience.
What You Bring
- Proven executive-level leadership in technology risk and resilience, ideally within a regulated industry or fast-evolving enterprise environment.
- Deep expertise in cybersecurity, data governance, and emerging tech risk, including AI governance and digital platforms.
- Demonstrated success implementing transformational risk strategies in a complex, matrixed, or global setting.
- Strategic acumen paired with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with data, metrics, and models to drive insight.
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex risk concepts clearly to senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
- Forward-thinking, with the ability to anticipate future risks and evolving regulatory landscapes.
- Experience navigating external audits, regulators, and industry forums with credibility and confidence.
- Professional certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CRISC, or similar are considered assets.
