We are looking for talented and passionate software engineer with a strong background in Java and backend development, with ability to design, develop, test and document features and components. Ability to be highly effective employee on a distributed team and contribute to an inclusive, open, and collaborative workplace.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Become an upstream contributor to Apache KIE community projects
  • Participate in the design and development of core features of KIE community projects related to Business Automation Management Open Editions, including KIE Tools, jBPM/Workflow, Drools/Decisions.
  • Participate in upstream and internal continuous integration and continuous delivery.
  • Work across functional teams in IBM Automation Software, utilizing a broad skill set to resolve IBM Automation Software dependency and layered product integration & user experience issues
  • Troubleshooting and debugging skills within the full stack and across various technologies and form factors.
  • Maintain a deep customer base through excellent customer service and collaborating with support team on escalated issues
  • Supporting the team where your help is required and to be able to demonstrate a positive attitude and a passion to succeed. Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Proven solid experience in Java, Maven, Git, REST API, Messaging with Kafka, AMQ or similar, Relational Database (PostgreSQL) and Non-Relation Database (MongoDB, Redis or Cassandra), Enterprise Java Standards (Java EE, Jakarta, SpringBoot, Microprofile or Quarkus), and script languages.
  • Strong understanding of principals of OOP and design patterns
  • Focus on test-driven development and good knowledge of unit testing frameworks and methodologies.
  • Experience working with containers and tools surrounding the Kubernetes ecosystem such as Prometheus, Grafana, FluentD, etc.
  • Proficient scripting and automation skills to convert manual and maintenance functions into fully orchestrated automation is a plus.
  • Proven communication skills in English with written publications evidence.
  • Kanban Methodology and Open source contribution is a plus.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Excellent programming experience in Java, Enterprise Java Standards (Java EE, Jakarta, SpringBoot, Microprofile or Quarkus), and script languages.
  • Hands on with relational and non-relational databases
  • 6+ years experience in developing microservices for distributed systems.
  • 6+ years experience in container technologies like docker, Kubernetes.
  • 6+ years experience with Linux Familiarity with RESTful APIs

Open Source contributtor, knowledge on Apache Software Foundation Experience with software security and vulnerability Understanding of message broker like Kafka Familiarity with Kanban methodology
