Position Description:

We are Canada’s largest independent information technology services firm, and after 45 years, we’re still growing! Join Canada’s largest IT Company as a ‘AWS Tech Lead’ in our Banking Services Division.

We are looking for a Technical Lead to champion the adoption of newly developed, cloud-native APIs as part of a major migration initiative from legacy TIBCO-based middleware to AWS. The APIs are already defined and largely implemented, your primary mission will be to lead and adopt with the application teams.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Lead API Adoption Efforts:
Take ownership of the API adoption workstream within a large-scale TIBCO-to-AWS migration program.
• Partner with Application Teams:
Collaborate closely with application owners and developers to guide their transition from legacy integrations to modern AWS-hosted APIs.
• Bridge Legacy and Cloud Architectures:
Develop a deep understanding of both the current (TIBCO) and target (AWS) API ecosystems to drive informed decision-making and smooth transitions.
• Facilitate Integration Planning:
Support teams through implementation planning, integration design, “what-if” scenarios, and issue resolution.
• Drive Technical Triage:
Use observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace) to investigate and resolve performance and integration issues across distributed systems.
• Hands-On Problem Solving:
Lead developers in identifying root causes and implementing fixes for functional and integration issues—without direct coding, but with strong technical guidance.
• Communicate with Clarity:
Provide structured updates on risks, progress, and solutions to IT leadership and stakeholders.
• Influence and Align Stakeholders:
Use diplomacy and influence to align cross-functional teams and leadership around adoption goals and timelines.
• Enhance Platform Support:
Work with platform and infrastructure teams to improve tooling, documentation, and support processes based on real-world feedback.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• 7+ years of experience in software development or system integration, with a strong focus on APIs and middleware technologies.
• 2+ years in a technical leadership role, ideally centered on platform engineering or integration initiatives.
• Hands-on expertise with AWS services such as API Gateway, Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch is essential.
• Demonstrated ability to assess and interpret both legacy and modern API architectures and translate them into actionable implementation strategies.
• Proficient in using observability and monitoring tools like Dynatrace to independently analyze traces, logs, and performance metrics for troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with legacy middleware platforms (e.g., TIBCO) is a plus.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across technical and executive audiences.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of guiding development teams through complex issues—without direct coding responsibilities.
• Broader understanding of enterprise infrastructure components such as networking, authentication, gateways, and databases is advantageous.
• Experience navigating large-scale organizational change or working within structured change management frameworks is a bonus.
