Your Role and Responsibilities
Are you a seasoned professional with a passion for building vibrant communities and driving engagement? We are seeking a passionate technology advocate to join our dynamic team at IBM TechXchange. IBM TechXchange is a new program that engages our technology practitioners through hands-on, deep technical learning and access to IBM experts through in-person experiences and virtual events. As a member of the IBM TechXchange User Advocacy team, you will be supporting our strategic User Groups. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to leverage their enthusiasm for technology to advance user advocacy, fostering awareness of our programs and working alongside a multidisciplined team serving a wide community of IBM technologists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Building: Foster a thriving user group community through strategic events such as meetups, conferences, and webinars.
  • User Group Strategy: Continuously refine and optimize the approach to elevate user group participation and drive deeper community connections.
  • Leadership & Advocacy: Empower and support user group leaders, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to succeed.
  • Content & Communication: Partner with the User Advocacy Program Evangelist to craft compelling content that showcases the success of user groups and drives excitement for upcoming events, keeping the community engaged and inspired.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Align with internal teams, including product, marketing, and sales, to ensure consistency in messaging and execution.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators, providing regular reports on program success and areas for improvement.
  • External Engagement: Represent the company at industry events, building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Expansion & Outreach: Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the user group program, launching and supporting new groups in collaboration with clients and partners.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience: Prior experience in an advocacy role (client advocate, developer relations, user advocacy, program evangelist, community manager) within technology.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire, with experience in managing and growing communities.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse audiences, including senior executives.
  • Project Management: Strong project management abilities, with a disciplined approach to achieving goals.

  • Industry Expertise: Experience leading client/partner programs.
  • Professional Network: Established connections within the tech community and advocacy domain.
