The Company delivers a wide range of services and programs to meet the transportation needs of over 2.5 million people in Metro Vancouver. These services include bus, SeaBus, SkyTrain, Canada Line, West Coast Express, HandyDART services, and Transit Police.  They also operate and maintain four of the region’s bridges and, in conjunction with local governments, share responsibility for the Major Road Network, as well as walking and cycling infrastructure. They are responsible stewards of the environmental impacts of their operations. Besides managing transportation demand-management strategies and programs, they support the region’s growth strategy, provincial and regional environmental objectives, and regional economic development. 

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and as an integral member of the Senior Executive Team, the Vice President, People & Culture (VP, P&C) will help develop and lead its HR strategy, programs, and initiatives while further building its high-performance culture. An experienced People leader, the VP, P&C will be wholly responsible for employee engagement, staff relations, human resource management, policies, and procedures. In leading the Department, the VP, P&C will inspire and empower the team as they focus on key priorities including safe and healthy workplaces, diversity and inclusion, talent management and mentorship, executive development, succession planning, and labour relations. The Vice President will ensure all HR functions align and add value to the Company’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.

The ideal candidate is a senior, progressive, and mission-driven HR executive with demonstrated success in a large, complex, unionized operation where they have elevated the people strategy, shaped culture, created key performance metrics, and embraced change. A grounded visionary, the preferred candidate will be able to build trust and foster a resilient organization with a culture of service and pride. As a positive and empathetic leader, the ideal candidate will have the ability to build and inspire a team and lead with a high degree of personal ethics and integrity.
