British Columbia’s Natural Resource Ministries (NRM) are the stewards of the Province’s Crown land and natural resources which reflect the diverse values and interests of all British Columbians. In order to support the growth of the economy while providing effective environmental stewardship, the province’s NRM must transform in order to advance the shared management of British Columbia’s natural resources.

The Information, Innovation and Technology (ITT) Division is leading the modernization and transformation of business practices for the NRM through continuous improvement projects, new technology options and operational information management/information technology (IM/IT). The IIT Division is providing leadership for IM/IT planning, policy and business process solutions and is also the single authority for all information and technology across the NRM.

IITD manages and maintains over 460 specific Line of Business applications that enable and support Natural Resource Ministries (NRM) business capabilities in diverse areas such as: Natural Hazards, Compliance and Enforcement, First Nations Engagement, Authorizations, etc. 

The Senior Product Portfolio Manager is responsible for collaboratively developing the vision, strategy and roadmap for how their Product Portfolio will deliver these business capabilities to achieve Ministry mandates and business priorities and ensure optimal business value to IITD clients.   Working with various key ministry stakeholders, business and technical subject matter experts, vendors and product representatives, this position will champion the realization of benefits in an innovative bi-modal development environment.

Job Requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below: 

  • Degree or diploma in a technology or business discipline or project management, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 2 (two) years’ experience leading enterprise wide projects or portfolios in complex environments.
  • 2 (two) years’ experience leading governance and working with diverse stakeholders in a collaborative and community model
  • 1 (one) year experience leading and managing complex change initiatives
  • Experience analyzing and using stakeholder insight and data to design and continually improve services and products

Preference may be given to candidates with the following experience:

  • Strategic planning and leadership
  • Managing large IM/IT projects or portfolios
  • Service design
  • Enterprise architecture
  • Natural Resource Sector
  • Demonstrated knowledge of working in a user experience focused team
