BC Parks is responsible for the land management of over 14 million hectares, encompassing 1,033 provincial parks, recreation areas, conservancies, Protected Areas and ecological reserves, and ensuring their world-class conservation, outdoor recreation, and cultural heritage values are protected for generations to come.

The Provincial Services Branch [PSB] is responsible for establishing programs and direction and coordinating provincial delivery of park and protected area services across the Province. PSB accomplishes this through direct and indirect delivery mechanisms utilizing a mix of staff, contractors, and formal and informal partnerships. The Branch has centralized policy/program lead groups in Victoria and staff located in both Victoria and regional offices across the province.

The Director, Capital Investment Program is responsible for developing, planning and implementing capital construction programs that enable BC Parks to maintain and renew their facility capital assets. BC Parks’ diverse capital facilities include roads, bridges, water systems, sewage systems, electrical systems, buildings, structures, dams, trails, tunnels and grounds, and are currently valued at over one billion dollars. The Director is responsible for approximately nineteen million dollars in annual capital expenditures across the Province.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • University degree in engineering, planning, construction, finance, project management, business, public administration, or other related field or equivalent.
  • Five [5] or more years of experience in the following areas:
    • Experience in progressive leadership roles.
    • Experience leading and resolving complex staff and/or client and project issues.
    • Experience managing a portfolio of clients and projects in a customer service environment.
    • Experience in program development and management, including evaluation and performance measurement.
    • Experience with issues management and strategic problem solving.
    • Experience leading and supervising diverse and remote staff.
    • Experience in management of significant financial resources and program budgeting.
    • Experience in capital planning and management may be preferred.
