The Ministry of Justice is responsible for ensuring the security and economic viability of British Columbia’s communities through effective policing, corrections, liquor control, gaming, and protective and regulatory programs. The Policing and Security Branch develops and administers policing policy, and regulates the private security industry and other protective programs.

The Director is accountable and responsible for the leadership, management and administration of the Criminal Records Review Program, the Personnel Security Screening Office and the “Outside the Act” program.  This includes leading the development of long-term strategies for these programs such as Vulnerable Sector Check processes, outreach initiatives, and system enhancements, as well as stakeholder relations, liaising with legal counsel and issues management.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant area, OR
  • An equivalent combination of relevant course work, education, training and experience related to the justice sector AND/OR risk assessment/adjudication.


Minimum of 2 years in EACH of the following:

  • Supervisory AND/OR leadership experience.
  • Experience in the interpretation and application of legislation.
  • Experience in regulatory investigations AND/OR statutory decision-making
  • Experience in the development of major policy initiatives.
  • Experience working and consulting effectively with stakeholders.


  • Preference may be given to experience in a government regulatory environment AND/OR experience as a statutory decision-maker.
