The Team
The Hospitality Services Team at Government House is a well-established and highly collaborative group of seven full-time staff members, part of a broader House team of 20. The team works in a collegial environment, focused on delivering exceptional service for high-profile events and guests, that have significant impact across British Columbia. With a commitment to hospitality and service excellence, team members interact with diverse external groups, along with the broader Office of the Lieutenant Governor. The Role
In this role, you will participate in the set-up and flow for high-profile events from staffing the front of House to execution of individual or group service to guests, including the set-upand execution of Food and Beverage service. You will ensure smooth operations, elevated service, and exceptional  service delivery. Your work will directly impact thousands of guests each year, providing a memorable experience for all who enter this unique property. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • University degree in Hotel or Hospitality Management or post-secondary education with at least three (3) years related management experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Three (3) years of experience working in hospitality, housekeeping, catering, or other relevant service-related industries.
  • Three (3) years of experience managing, organizing and/or leading large-scale events.
  • Experience in developing and/or using systems to manage the event planning process.
  • Experience managing the service delivery operations for large groups and high-profile guests.
  • Recent experience (within the last 2 years) managing a large compliment of staff in a hotel and/or event environment.
  • Current certification of Food Safe Level 1 and Serving it Right.
     

Preference may be given to individuals with recent (within the last four years) experience:

  • Four (4) or more years of experience in a leadership position in the food and beverage industry.
  • Four (4) or more years of experience working in hospitality, high-end and fine dining, catering or other relevant service-related industries.
  • Four (4) or more years of experience managing, organizing and/or leading large-scale groups and events.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience developing and/or using systems to manage the event planning process.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience leading an events team comprised of but not limited to servers, bartenders, dishwashers, and others in a hotel and/or event environment.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience managing the service delivery operations for high-profile guests.
  • Fine dining service proficincy
  • Recent Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) experience and knowledge.
  • Recent Certification in FoodSafe
  • Recent Certification in Serving it Right
  • Recent Certification in Workplace Hazardous Materials information System (WHMIS)
  • ValidClass 5 British Columbia driver’s license
     

Provisos :

  • This position requires work indoors and outdoors and is not limited to normal/core business hours.
  • Some evening and weekend work is required to accommodate the unique needs of the Lieutenant Governor and events held at Government House.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.

One position is available in Victoria.
This position has full time on-site requirements. 
This is a temporary maternity leave coverage opportunity until 09/19/2026. This position may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.

Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
