Your Role and Responsibilities

The Product Manager role is key to IBM Sustainability Software delivering new and exciting offerings to our clients. This is a PM position, responsible for the Maximo Application Suite offerings and future strategy, including defining requirements, business cases with investment plan, pricing/revenue/ forecast estimates, working with Consulting, Sales, Business Partners, Customers, Design, Development and other stake holders to build product roadmap, go-to-market strategy and enablement for the product offerings.

  • The Product Manager acts as a general manager of markets and offerings
  • Develops product vision and direction of future offering enhancements that address competitive gaps and meet transportation market requirements.
  • Coordinate across the teams that build, market, sell, and deliver IBM solutions and offerings.
  • As a reliability and asset management SME in industries such as aerospace & defence, marine, and/or transportation, working with clients, partners and prospects to identity market requirements, opportunities, user problems and gaps.
  • Defines user experiences that are compelling and competitive.

The day to day tasks includes the management of the roadmap by looking ahead and having a clear vision of where the product should go and working with both internal & external stakeholders to validate this vision and correct course if needed. The Maximo Application Suite PM is the focal of the product and will be responsible for clarifying the requirements of any new enhancements, industry use-cases or requests to allow for sound decision making in terms of the potential development effort. This requires working closely with various stakeholders including Consulting, Design, Development, Sales & Account management. In addition, the PM is responsible for gaining deep product knowledge to assist sales with crafting and delivering compelling product demonstrations to customers.

The Product Manager will be responsible for clearly handing over validated & approved requirements to the development team as epics defined in Aha. This will include documenting requirements, creating user stories, lead design workshops with the UX and technical design team, articulate the vision of an idea and be able to make it real and practical so that it can be built into the product, document the workflow of an idea and clearly articulate the use cases.

Cross functional collaboration & communication is key to the success of this role to ensure stakeholder expectations are managed given the constant balance between new features & ensuring a quality & stable product that continues to meet existing clients’ needs. The Product Manager role is part of the team that helps set the priorities for the development sprints, in collaboration with the development team.

In addition, the PM is responsible for gaining deep product knowledge to assist sales with crafting and delivering compelling product demonstrations to customers.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Strong background and understanding of asset management, MR and reliability in one or more of the following: aerospace & defense, transportation, or marine.
  • 5+ years’ experience and knowledge of Maximo Enterprise Asset Management or related EAM type systems.


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3-5 year of competitive analysis.
  • 1 year of experience in a pre-sales or a customer support role.
  • 3-5 years of experience presenting at conferences and webinars (proven communication skills).
  • 3-5 years in a Strategy or Product Management role.
  • 3-5 year in an application software development role.
  • Knowledge of IBM AI technologies.
