British Columbia’s Natural Resource Ministries (NRM) are the stewards of the Province’s Crown land and natural resources which reflect the diverse values and interests of all British Columbians. In order to support the growth of the economy while providing effective environmental stewardship, the province’s NRM must transform in order to advance the shared management of British Columbia’s natural resources. 

The Information, Innovation and Technology (IIT) Division is leading the modernization and transformation of business practices for the NRM through continuous improvement projects, new technology options and operational information management/information technology (IM/IT).

The Division provides service to over 6000 staff and over 400 lines of business applications and 350 servers, serving five ministries with responsibility for approximately 151 statutes. Projects managed by IIT have extensive long-term impacts on ministry and/or government-wide business operations. 

This position works as a member of a small communications and engagement team to deliver targeted campaigns to support the NRM’s transformation vision, IIT’s goals and objectives, and a culture of positive engagement both within IIT and across the NRM.

Job Requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree, diploma or certificate in Communications, Business, Public Relations, Journalism, English or a related area. An equivalent combination of education and training may be considered.
  • A minimum of 2 years related work experience including:
  • Recent (within 3 years) writing and editing communications materials
  • Recent (within 3 years) with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Recent (within 3 years) experience using graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop
  • Occasional overnight travel to coordinate and attend major IIT events

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Experience working with CMS lite
  • Experience working in an Information Technology/Information Management environment
