The Team
The Operations Manager will join the Cariboo Leadership Team, overseeing an established group of professionals working across leadership, operations, development services, and administration in the Cariboo District. This team collaborates with various positions throughout the Highways and Regional Services division, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of people, goods, and services across the province. Emphasizing equity, diversity, and inclusion, the team values diverse perspectives to strengthen decision-making and community impact.
The Role
As the Operations Manager, you will be offered the chance to think creatively and innovatively, improving the highway system while setting clear goals and objectives for the maintenance program. This role also provides an opportunity to lead and inspire a team, while having a direct impact on delivering superior performance and shaping the future of transportation in the region.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
Education and Experience
- Secondary School Graduation or GED and minimum of 7 years public or private sector related work experience* OR;
- Graduation from a Technical Institute in a related field of study** and a minimum of 5 years public or private sector related work experience* OR;
- Graduation from a University in a related field of study** and minimum 3 years public or private sector related work experience* OR;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
**Related fields of study include:
Civil Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction, Transportation Systems and Planning, Traffic, Forestry, Resource Management, Urban or Regional Planning, or equivalent.
*Related work experience must include a combination of:
- Experience in management positions, construction supervisor, field superintendent, or related employment involving management.
- Experience supervising and inspecting the construction, repair or maintenance of roads, bridges, and similar structures.
- Experience negotiating and coordinating the work of construction trades.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Direct transportation related experience including contract management, project delivery, road and bridge construction and emergency response.
