The Team
Provincial Centralized Screening provides province-wide child protection screening services in a fast paced, 24-7, rotating shift work environment. There are multiple teams of dedicated social services workers including Directors of Operations, Team Leaders, Child Protection Workers, Support Workers and Social Program Officer Assistants. The services provided by Provincial Centralized Screening have a direct impact on the well-being of children, youth and families throughout British Columbia.
The Role
This is a challenging and meaningful role for a fully qualified child protection worker with C6 delegation under the Child, Family and Community Service Act and experience supervising staff. This is a great opportunity for experienced workers who thrive in a fast-paced shift work environment and enjoy providing leadership and guidance to child protection workers to make a difference in the lives of children, youth and families throughout British Columbia.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements
1. Preferred Credentials:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Child & Youth Care OR Master’s Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare
- At least 2 years of job-specific* work experience
- Experience Supervising staff
OR
- In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
- At least 2 years of job-specific* work experience
- Experience Supervising staff
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered; OR A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.
2. Expanded Credentials:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree.
- PLUS, Minimum 1 year of related** work experience and at least 2 years of job-specific* work experience OR At least 3 years of job-specific* work experience
- Experience supervising staff
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Human Services fields include: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood
Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
- Current C6 delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFSCA) OR Candidates who had C6 delegation and worked in a delegated child protection position in BC within the past 2 years.
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Applicants with preferred education credentials AND in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Eligible for delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFSCA).
- Experience providing resource or guardianship or out-of-care services under the Child, Family, and Community Service Act.
- At least six (6) months of experience supervising staff
- Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.
WILLINGNESS STATEMENTS:
- This position requires shift work. Current rotating shift pattern: 4 days on, 3 days off, 8.75 hours per shift. The shift patterns apply to a 24/7 schedule which includes Daytime, Evening, Weekend Shifts and Holidays. As per the relevant collective agreement provisions on paid holidays and dependent on schedules, staff will earn hours toward additional leave. In addition, there may be opportunities for overtime, or alternatively, compensatory time off.
- Requirement to be available on ‘stand-by’ from 2:45 am until 6 am (an average one standby shift every 2 weeks, though it maybe once a week one month and none the following month, depending on the shift rotation).
- Provincial Centralized Screening is a hybrid work setting; however, staff must be able to work in-office on immediate notice if requested under the requirements of the Business Continuity Plan or when operationally required. It is important that you live no further than one hour from your designated office to meet this requirement when needed. Those living more than one hour from a PCS location will not be eligible for a telework agreement.
- Travel, as necessary, is a requirement; therefore, transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Ministry.
- Opportunity to work with families facing challenges which may occasionally involve exposure to unpleasant dealings with angry, abusive, or abused clients; exposure to hazards from frequently working around volatile parents and/or children in crisis.
PLEASE NOTE: Applicants who re-apply within 6 months of a previous unsuccessful final assessment (reference check) for a Team Leader position at Provincial Centralized Screening may not be eligible for further consideration.

About this Position:
There are currently two (2) temporary opportunities available one ending on 28/02/2026 and the other 09/08/2026.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent and/or temporary vacancies in these communities (ie Kelowna, Kamloops, Vancouver, Surrey).
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to three (3) days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
