The Team
Security Operations is an established team of 13 skilled professionals who provide essential security services to safeguard the Government of British Columbia’s IT infrastructure. Working with other IT teams within the OCIO and ministry cybersecurity staff, this team operates advanced security tools to defend, detect, and respond to cyber threats, making a government-wide impact. The Role
As a manager, you’ll provide leadership to guide Security Operations activities, shaping the team’s direction and strengthening its collaboration across government. Your work allows other teams to focus on their own missions while Security Operations keeps cyber threats at bay. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree, diploma, certification in computer science or other related technical field, or equivalent in education and experience.
  • At least three (3) years’ of combined experience must include two or more of the following:
    • Identifying and assessing IT risks, current threats, and security incident response and management.
    • Developing enterprise security frameworks
    • Leading significant IT project implementations.
    • Experience with the systems development life cycle and communication protocols as they relate to networking.
    • Experience with network security technology (e.g., Anti-DDoS, firewalls, IDS/IPS, etc.), Security Information and Event Management, Scanning, and Public Key Infrastructure management.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in progressively complex technology-enabled environments (e.g., in a service environment with multiple client groups).
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience leading significant IT project implementations.
  • Three (3) years’ experience managing professional staff, project teams and budgets

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

  • Professional designation as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) years’ work experience managing external vendor service delivery environments and strategic agreements.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
The position headquarters will be Victoria.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent and/or temporary vacancies across the Ministry of Citizens’ Services.
This position is excluded from union membership.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
